BY RAIL
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad ( KTM Berhad) or Malayan Railway provides comfortable and economical rail services from Kuala Lumpur to Butterworth. KTM Berhad operates one rail service daily known as Express Langkawi from Kuala Lumpur Sentral station to Butterworth. From Butterworth you may take the ferry to Georgetown, Penang Island. The ferry terminal is within walking distance from Butterworth Railway Station.

Ferries to Penang operates 24 Hours around the clock. From 5.00 am to 2.00 am ferry operates at 15 minutes frequency and from 2.01 am to 5.00 am at half an hour frequency. The ferry terminal to Penang Island is within walking distance from Butterworth Railway Station and Butterworth Bus Terminal.
